A Few Words about Lake Plastira<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Lake Plastira, also known as Lake Tavropos, is an impressive example of the harmonious coexistence of man and nature. It was created in 1959 for the irrigation of the Thessalian plain and for the production of hydroelectric power. Today, the lake is situated at an altitude of 750 meters and spans 25,000 acres, making it a unique natural paradise. <\/p>\n

It is worth noting that during World War II, the area where the lake is located today was used as a secret airstrip for the Greek resistance. The \u201cghost airport\u201d operated on the plateau of Nevropolis, with landings primarily occurring at night and the area covered with trees and haystacks during the day to avoid detection by German forces. Despite the conquerors’ efforts, they were never able to locate it.
